It all began with a simple question, “What is the sound of the Next Generation in our church?” and thus, Higher Vision WAKE was born.
WAKE is a pop worship band whose sound is composed of ’80’s style rock, pop-influenced hooks, dynamic guitar melodies, and deeply emotive vibes that represents the NextGen of Higher Vision Church (HVC). When asked about the creative process of WAKE, Macie Ming, singer and songwriter, answered, “We’ve been developing our sound for about 2 years and began writing songs that we felt met people where they were at.”
If there’s one thing that is certain about WAKE, it’s the heart and mission behind it. “Everywhere you turn there is so much darkness” says Youth Pastor of HVC and songwriter Mark McGaffin. “In the absence of light, we wanted to write songs that would awaken faith, awaken hope, awaken love, awaken the plans and purposes God has for us, and ultimately shine a light in the darkness.” It was with this in mind that the EP came to life.
In tandem, the group has found an anthem verse in Romans 3:27-28 MSG, which talks about surrendering and allowing God to set the pace. In a world that is always telling us what we need, the central focus of the electronically-fused tracks is that Jesus is everything we need.
With vivid imagery and a passion you can sense, Higher Vision WAKE leads listeners into a heartfelt worship experience full of inspiring songs and moving music that cries out for God to take the lead.
